  1st in Division All Women Crew Runs Passenger Train Between Sec’bad – Vikarabad on Eve of IWD

South Central Railway is in the forefront with several initiatives to empower the women workforce in Railways along with developing their morale and self-confidence. Earlier, with a view to provide equal opportunities for its women staff, SCR introduced “All Women Station’ concept and is successfully operating 05 All Women Stations on the Zone.  The All Women run stations at Begumpet, Vidya Nagar, Chandragiri, New Guntur and Ramavarapadu have been proved to be the best in passenger services. The story of success at these Railway stations paved the way for another initiative for running the trains with All Women Crew.

To specify the importance of women empowerment and to promote gender equality, Indian Railways is organizing International Women’s Day Campaign from 01st to 10th March, 2020 with the theme “Each for Equal”. As a part of the campaign, South Central Railway operated a Passenger Train with All Women Crew between Secunderabad – Vikarabad today i.e., 07th March, 2020.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR complimented the crew members of Secunderabad – Vikarabad Passenger train. He stated that South Central Railway is committed to provide equal opportunities for women and eradicate any kind of discrimination and gender bias.

The on-duty staff of the passenger train comprises of Loco pilot, Asst. Loco Pilot, Train Guard, TTE’s & RPF. The passenger train was flagged off by women staff of Secunderabad Railway Station. Shri Amit Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, Smt. Padmaja, Chief Passenger Traffic Manager, SCR were present on the occasion.

The staff on board of Secunderabad – Vikarabad Passenger were, Smt. Saritha R Meshram, Loco-Pilot;  Smt. Mamatha Kumari, Asst. Loco Pilot; Kumari Vineesha. P, Guard; Smt. Karisma, TTE; Smt. Manga, TTE; Smt. Pavana, TTE; Smt. Nasima Begum, SPF/RPF; Kumari. M. Nirosha, WC/RPF. Smt. Saritha R Meshram, Loco-Pilot of the train expressed happiness over the initiative of running all-women train and stated that South Central Railway is always on the forefront in empowering women by providing equal opportunities. She also said that the Zone has always taken care of women welfare.
