Red at all Rajasthan reserves after tiger spotted with wire snare around neck
The Forest Department of Rajasthan government has sounded a red at all reserves, sanctuaries and parks in the state as incidents of hunting, poaching and animal traps have come to the fore.
The order comes against the backdrop of a camera trap footage showing a Ranthambore tiger with a wire snare around its neck. All forest officials have been asked to intensify search operations and seek the help of local police to nab hunters and criminals.
Forest department has cancelled leaves of all field officers, and directions have been issued for effective patrolling against illegal activities in protected areas. Recently, five hunters were arrested in Mount Abu for hunting a Sambar deer, following which a red has been sounded till February next year.
