Hyderabad: Expectations have risen among exporters with the visit of APEDA Chairman
APEDA Chairman Dr. M. Angamuthu’s two-day visit to Hyderabad was a success. The chairman’s visit has raised hopes among exporters of agricultural and processed food products. Exporters were happy that the Chairman responded positively to address the issues raised in the matter of exporting their products to other countries.
The manner in which the Chairman supports exporters directly and indirectly benefits farmers is impressive. That is why many exporters have lauded the young, enthusiastic chairman for continuing in that position for three years and overcoming all our hardships. Similarly, officials and staff of the Hyderabad Regional Office stopped during the Covid-19 lauded the services rendered.
Horticulture Center of Excellence Awesome: Chairman
Dr. M. Angamuthu Chairman APEDA expressed his satisfaction during his tour of Hyderabad by visiting the Horticulture Excellence Center with FlowersAND vegetables organized by the Telangana Horticulture Department at Jeedimetla. He also lauded Commissioner L. Venkatram Reddy for cultivating a wide variety of flowers and vegetables with modern techniques, which will soon create awareness among the farmers and will soon become number one in the country. The Chairman was pleased to visit the Center during his visit.
Chairman who visited the Mediconda Nutrients Center
The Apeda Chairman was pleased to take a look at the Moringa Nutrients products being produced by the Medikonda Nutrients Center organized by the Pulkal Mandal in Sangareddy District Gongulur as part of his second day visit.
Chairman is quite happy by seeing processing unit of novel food i.e. Moringa leaves powder. He flag off the shipment also express his satisfaction for emerging such facility as organic Moringa. Futher he advised to operator to extend scope of value addition in other organic products like Alfa Alfa powder, mulberry powder, ginger powder, amla powder, wheat grass powder etc.
India commences exports of Moringa powder, keeping in mind the rising global demand, because of its nutritional properties.
In a bid to promote Moringa (botanical name Moringa oleifera) products exports from India, APEDA has been supporting private entities in creating necessary infrastructure.
Two tonne of organic certified Moringa powder were sent to the United States through air consignment today. The event was flagged off by Dr. M. Angamuthu Chairman, APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.
One of the APEDA registered exporter from Telangana, M/s Medikonda Nutrients has been supported to start the export activities in a planned manner. The company has 240 hacter of Moringa plantation which includes land owned by the company and contract farming entered under the certified organic status of the produce. The company plans to export around 40 metric tonne of Moringa leaves powder to USA.
The company has set up Moringa products processing unit in Gongloor Village, Pulkal Mondal Sangareddy district of Telangana. APEDA has been constantly facilitating the budding exporter for enhancing the Moringa exports from India.
The unit has state of the artfacilities like automatic sorting & grading, washing, de-shaking, fully automatic dehydrator for drying vegetables and leaves, winnowing and sieving to remove unwanted material after drying, advanced temperature -controlled pulverization system, blending system, and automated packing facility.
With more Moringa processing units being created through support of APEDA, the exports would be increasing in the next few years which would bring benefits to the farmers.
Considering the diverse benefits of Moringa , it has been used for centuries due to its medicinal properties and health benefits in various forms.Globally, the demand for Moringa products, such as Moringa Leaf Powder and Moringa Oil, has been witnessing healthy growth.
Moreover, international organizations and institutions are exploring the best ways on how to use Moringa as a nutritional supplement and in food fortification. There are several species of Moringa across the world. Its usage has been well received among the global consumers for its nutritional, medicinal, culinary uses.

He appreciated the manner and initiative shown by them during the Covid-19 while maintaining good relations with the exporters.
