IIT Jammu holds it’s maiden Convocation
In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Institute of Technology- IIT Jammu held its maiden Convocation on Saturday wherein its first batch of 79 students from Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science Engineering were conferred B.Tech degrees.
The Chairman Board of Directors IIT, Sharad Saraf declared the Convocation Ceremony open which was organised in a hybrid mode that was both offline and online. Out of a total of 79 passing out students, the ceremony hosted 38 students and their parents on campus while the other students received their certificates in a live Convocation stream arranged by the institute.
On the occasion, Director IIT, Jammu Prof. Manoj Gaur said that the year 2020 was a year of transformation. The Faculty and Students worked very hard and beat the Corona Pandemic. Prof. Gaur said that IIT Jammu also worked actively during the Corona Lockdown period by developing innovative measures in the fight against COVID-19.
Chairman Board of Directors IIT, Sharad Saraf in his address congratulated all the graduates and said the dedicated team of IIT Jammu has registered many achievements during the last four years. He advised students to maintain honesty, dedication and responsibility in whatever field they are going to choose as a career.
The institute unveiled iitjammuconvocation2020.com to honour the efforts and grit of its first batch and also awarded its best performing students with President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal and 3 Institute Silver Medals.
