Telangana: 4000 front line health, sanitation workers receive first dose of vaccine against COVID19
Telangana, over four thousand front line health and sanitation workers received the first dose of vaccine against corona virus today at 140 vaccination centres across the state. So far, there is no incident reported about serious complaints as the vaccination drive rolled out. The first dose of vaccination has been given to a sanitation worker, Krishnamma, at Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Hyderabad. After listening to Prime Minister’s instructions during the launch of vaccination drive virtually, Telangana Health Minister E. Rajender, who earlier declared he would take the first shot, made way for health workers.
State Governor Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan formally launched the vaccination drive at NIMS in Hyderabad. She said, the country, especially Hyderabad is emerging as the pharmaceutical capital of the world and many countries are looking at India for supply of COVID-19 vaccine. Stating that exports of vaccine is expected to begin soon, she said that Hyderabad has been supplying medicines to more than 150 countries.
She said, the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination is the proudest moment for the country and the COVID immunization programme for the frontline warriors was a thanksgiving gesture for their selfless services. Dispelling the myths about the vaccines, the Governor said that the vaccines made in India are very safe and asked people not to be hesitant to take the vaccine.
Union Minister of state for Home G Kishanreddy along with the state Health Minister formally launched the vaccination drive at Gandhi Hospital while several state ministers and public representatives have formally launched vaccination at various centres across the state.
The vaccination drive against COVID has begun in festive atmosphere across Telangana state as the top personalities including the state Governor, ministers and public representatives stand by the grassroots level health and sanitation workers on the historic occasion.
The doctors, health workers and public representatives welcomed the vaccines in a traditional way at many places. Some of the recipients became emotional when the leaders recalled the selfless services rendered by them during the past 10 months when the country struggled to fight against COVID.
The leaders dispelled the myths around vaccines and urged people not to be hesitant to take vaccine and wait patiently to their turn of vaccination. The Health officials have taken all precautionary measures to address post vaccination issues, if any.
