Naini coal block would be a boon to Singareni
The Naini coal block to be started by Singareni at Orissa would be a boon for Singareni. From the total of 340 million tonnes coal reserves of this block at a rate of 10 million tonnes per year coal would be produced for the next 38 years. This mine which is spread across 912 hectares, 783 hectares is spread across forest land. Out of the total 6 villages near the mine only 14 houses of one village needs to be relocated. As per the government restrictions Singareni will compensate the effected houses. Singareni will take up social responsibility activities worth rupees one crore 18 lakhs. Borewells at 24 places, drinking water tanks, Motor driving and tailoring coaching for unemployed youth has been arranged.
Presently in the OC mines 6 to 7 cubic meters of OB has to be removed per ton of coal production but at Naini block open cast mine only 2.58 cubic meters of over burden needs to be removed. The coal here is also of high quality. G-10 grade coal is available here. Washery with a capacity of 80 lakh tonnes per year is also being arranged here. Coal digging will be done through shovel dumper and surface minor system. Nearly 1200 employees and another 1200 out source employees would be working in this open cast mine. Since the cost of coal production is very less here this mine is expected to bring in huge revenue for Singareni.
Singareni GM and present Advisor Mr. C. H. Vijayarao who were taking care of the arrangements for this mine for the past 5 years said that from the time the Naini block was allotted by the central coal department till now company Chairman & MD Mr.N. Sridhar has put in special efforts to get all the required permissions, he personally came to the State Capital Bhuvaneshwar and met the Chief Minister and other officials and sought their cooperation.
