The forester, who can be seen breaking down in the clip, was reportedly taking care of the injured elephant, as it received treatment at the Sadivayal Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. However, the gentle giant succumbed to its injuries, despite the efforts of the forest department staff, leaving the man in tears.
In the clip, the forester can be seen crying and gently stroking the elephant’s trunk. Ever since the video surfaced online, it has been shared on several platforms and is going viral.
Sharing the clip, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Ramesh Pandey wrote on Twitter, “It’s really moving to see this tearful bid adieu to an elephant by his companion forester at Sadivayal Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu.”

The official Twitter account of IFS Association wrote, “Some emotions cannot be expressed into words. Gone from his sight, but not from his heart. A #Forestor who was taking care of an injured elephant in masinagudi, @MudumalaiTR, #Tamilnadu, crying after its death. #GreenWarriors (sic).”
