Center approves to release of Rs 1,751 Cr to five states, including Telangana
The High-Level Committee under the Chairmanship of Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday approved Additional Central Assistance of over one thousand seven hundred 51 crore rupees under the National Disaster Response Fund, NDRF to five states, which were affected by floods, landslides during South-West Monsoon-2020 and hailstorm during Rabi 2019-20.
While approving the Additional Central Assistance, Mr Shah said, the Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved to help people of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh who braved these natural disasters.
For floods and landslides during South-West Monsoon-2020, over 437 crore rupees were approved for Assam, over 75 crore rupees to Arunachal Pradesh, nearly 321 crore to Odisha, nearly 246 crore rupees to Telangana and over 386 crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh.
For hailstorm during Rabi 2019-20, over 285 crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh has been approved.
In all the five states, the Central Government had deputed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams immediately after the calamities, without waiting for the receipt of Memorandum from the affected State Governments.
In addition, during the financial year 2020-21, till date, the Central Government has released over 19 thousand 36 crore rupees to 28 states from the State Disaster Response Fund, SDRF and over four thousand 409 crore rupees to 11 states from NDRF
