NFSM: Around 110 lakh hectares area treated with Micro-nutrients and Bio-fertilizers in 5 yrs
The Union Government has taken a number of initiatives to increase production and productivity of food crops under National Food Security Mission(NFSM).
The Mission was launched in 2007-08 to increase the production of rice, wheat and pulses through area expansion and productivity enhancement, restoring soil fertility and productivity and creating employment opportunities and enhancing farm level economy.
To achieve the objective of ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’ and ‘Per Drop More Crop’, two lakh 74 thousand 600 pump sets, one lakh 26 thousand 967 sprinklers and around 764 lakh metres of water carrying pipes were distributed under the Mission from 2014-15 to 2019-2020.
The Mission has been able to achieve around 110 lakh hectares area to be treated with Micro-nutrients, Bio-fertilizers and soil ameliorants in the period.
To educate farmers about newer improved crop production and protection technologies, over 60 thousand cropping system based training for capacity building of farmers were conducted from 2014-15 to 2019-2020 and this benefited around 18 lakh of farmers.
