NABARD sanctions Rs.2978 Cr for Irrigation works in Cauvery Basin
Dr. G R Chintala, Chairman NABARD handed over the sanction letter to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Edappadi K Palaniswami on 16 February 2021 for implementation of Extension, Renovation and Modernization works of Cauvery Sub basin Irrigation System with a financial assistance of Rs. 2978 crore.
This project on completion will improve the irrigation efficiency in 1.89 lakh Ha of the delta districts of the State. With this sanction, NABARD has provided assistance to the State Government for Rs. 9200 crore during the year 2020-21 from its dedicated funds for various rural infrastructure projects.
During the discussions, Chairman, NABARD appreciated the several initiatives taken by the State Government in the agriculture and rural development sectors and extended further cooperation in bringing in more technological interventions to the welfare of the farmers.
Chairman urged the State Government to promote in a large scale, projects for tapping of solar power through installation of panels in the गााँि बढ़े >>तो देश बढ़े www.nabard.org Taking Rural India >> Forward agriculture fields for additional income to the farmers, popularization of Internet of Things in agriculture sector etc. on a mission mode.
Chief Minister thanked Chairman, NABARD for quick consideration of State Government’s highly prioritized projects and sought further assistance for projects related with desalination, sea water intrusion prevention structures, integrated fisheries complex etc., The meeting was also attended by Dr. Rajeev Ranjan IAS, Chief Secretary, Shri Shanmugham, IAS (Rtd) Advisor to State Government, Shri S Krishnan IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri S Selvaraj CGM NABARD and other senior officials of the State Government.
