Hyderabad: Forest and police joint forces nab 3 poachers; save live black deer

Hyderabad Task Force Police and Forest officails have busted a gang that was illegally hunting wild deer and making money by selling their meat. Three suspects belonging to the gang were arrested. They seized an I20 car, a deer legs and a head from them. Apart from that they rescued another three year old live black deer from their clutches.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar told a media conference at the Hyderabad Zoo Park today that the Hyderabad South Zone Task Force police had nabbed a gang of poachers. According to his account … the hunters who killed a deer and sold the meat, caught another deer while hunting and catching it with credible information.
The task force police said the whereabouts of the accused were easily available in the operation conducted jointly by the Forest Department. Shankar Baba, Mohammad Zubair and Mohammad Salmanuddin, three members of the gang, were arrested and another accused is absconding. They seized an I20 car, a deer legs and a head from them. The three-year-old black deer is said to have been rescued. It was revealed that action would be taken against the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Ms. Subhadra Devi Nehru Zoo Park Curator said hunting of wild deer was illegal and the accused could face up to seven years in prison under the Wildlife Protection Act. The task force additional DCP Gummi Chakravarty asked to give information if it was known that wild animals were being hunted. The main accused, Shankar Baba, had allegedly hunted ten deer in the past and also sold some other live deers. He clarified that Shankar was also an accused in the 2018 case. Imran, who is on the run, will be caught soon.
