Multipurpose indoor stadium at Padmavati Women’s University in Tirupati
Minister Avanti Srinivasa Rao said steps were being taken to set up a ship restaurant in Visakhapatnam. He said projects like Jala Vihar will be undertaken in Vijayawada and Tirupati. The Minister on Tuesday held a review meeting at his office in the Secretariat on the implementation trends of various development schemes being undertaken in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Youth. The Minister inquired about the steps being taken for boat tourism.
The concerned departmental authorities have been directed to take steps to ensure that boat tourism in Papikondalu starts in another week’s time. CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to start work on the Srisailam temple under the Prasadam scheme. The concerned authorities were directed to take a decision on the date quickly. He also said that a decision would be taken on the date of laying the foundation stone for the works to be undertaken under the same scheme at Simhachalam temple.
Rs 92 crore for reconstruction of Rushikonda resort …
Minister Avanti Srinivas said the state government was investing heavily in tourism development. He said that the construction of Tristar and Five Star hotels on PPP basis has already started. He said the state government had released Rs 92 crore for the reconstruction of Rushikonda resort in Visakhapatnam and had also issued orders in this regard. He said steps were being taken to develop RK Beach in Visakhapatnam as well as Bhimili, Rushikonda and Mangamaripeta beaches. The minister said the beaches would be developed on the lines of Goa and Marina beaches.
The state government has released Rs 92 crore for the reconstruction of Rushikonda resort in Visakhapatnam. Inquired about the progress of development work undertaken by the respective departments. He also inquired about the estimates made for the grant of funds in the forthcoming budget. He said the state government was investing heavily in tourism development. Investments are being invited for the construction of PPP resorts, three star and five star hotels. Authorities have been directed to take steps to organize road shows in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The Union government has sanctioned Rs 2.25 crore for the construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium at the Tirupati Padmavathi Women’s University, state Tourism, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Muthamsetti Srinivasa Rao said. He said the YSR Sports School at Putlampally in Kadapa has been selected by the Central Government under the State Center of Central Excellence Center as part of Khelo India.

He said there was no tolerance for negligence on the part of the authorities in the development of the tourism sector. At the same time, Minister Avanti Srinivas directed Special Principal Secretary, Tourism, Rajat Bhargav, to encourage officials to work in good faith. The concerned departmental authorities have been directed to inspect the resorts and hotels under the purview of the tourism department from time to time.
Central government grants for sports development …
Minister Avanti Srinivas said the central government has sanctioned funds for the development of sports in the state. The central government has released Rs 2.25 crore for the construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium at the Tirupati Padmavathi Women’s University. He said the YSR Sports School at Putlampally in Kadapa has been selected by the Central Government under the State Center of Central Excellence Center as part of Khelo India. As part of the scheme, the central government has recently sanctioned Rs 3.18 crore for the purchase of sports equipment along with training in various sports.
The meeting was attended by Rajat Bhargav, Special Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, MD Praveen Kumar, Tourism Development Corporation, Yujana Services and Sports Department officials.
