Central approval for conversion of 783 hectares of forest land to Singareni Naini block in Odisha

Naini, the first coal mine to be operated by Singareni in other states, is getting various clearances from the Central Government departments expeditiously. The Central Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) at a special meeting in the national capital, Delhi, on May 24 approved the transfer of 783 hectares of coal-laden forest land in the Naini block to Singareni.

Most of the 912.7 hectares required for the Nine Block i.e. 783 hectares of land is forest area. The forest area needs to be transferred to the Singareni Company immediately if the mine is to start immediately. In this context, the Chairman and MD Mr. N.Sridhar took the special initiative to consult the State and Central Forest Departments several times and submit appropriate proposals to get the permission for the conversion of the forest land in a timely manner.

It is hoped that with the approval of the Central Government Departments for the conversion of major forest lands, the remaining environmental clearance permits will be obtained smoothly. The company has already submitted all the documents and guarantees prescribed by the department regarding the environmental clearance. The department has started the process of giving permission. The permit is also expected to be available by June.

Another major issue was the referendum, which was recently held in the Angu district center and was a complete success. The people and the people’s representatives have expressed their full support for the Singareni coal mining. In the wake of the achievement of these two major permits, Odisha Singareni Department officials to start coal mining Singareni Chairman & MD Mr.  N. Sridhar ordered.

Quick approvals on the special initiative of the Chairman
