Prakash Javadekar calls for collective efforts to combat pollution

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the government has set a target to reduce air pollution by 20 to 30 per cent by 2024 under National Clean Air Programme.

Speaking at the signing of the MoU for 132 identified cities for implementation of city specific action plans to reduce air pollution, Mr Javadekar said, under the programme, there is a target to improve air quality in 100 cities.

He said, our collective aim is to combat pollution by working on an individual, state and national level to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of Swachh Vayu and Swachh Bharat a reality.

The Minister said, the centre has sanctioned electric buses for 62 cities but it is operational in only 20 cities. Mr Javadekar said, he has also written a letter to the state governments for use of electric buses as these are very helpful in reducing air pollution.
