A rescue video of an elephant calf has gone viral online. The video of the operation was shared on Twitter, and it shows officials saving the animal from a 15-feet deep well.

The video was shared Susanta Nanda IFS Twitter page on Saturday (April10) with the caption, “An elephant calf was rescued from a 15-feet deep well at a village in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha on Saturday (sic).” The video has over 26,000 views and several thousand likes.

The elephant calf was saved from a 15-feet deep abandoned well with the help of a heavy machine. The incident took in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha on Saturday.

Forest officials arrived at the spot after locals told them about the animal. They arrived at the scene and saved the animal with a JCB machine.

The video shows the JCB digging the spot and clearing sand from the area where the elephant calf had fallen inside the well. They lifted out the elephant with the help of ropes and successfully saved it.

According to ANI, Rabi Narayan Mohanty, Range Officer, Deuli Forest Range, said that the calf fell inside the well while it was roaming in the area. He told ANI, “The calf fell into the well while it was roaming in the area on Friday night.”

“We were informed of the movement of the elephant, and we immediately rushed to the spot and rescued with the help of local fire department,” he added.
