UP: CM Yogi Adityanath tests positive goes into isolation
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday he has tested positive for Covid-19. He had gone into isolation on Tuesday.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tested positive for Covid-19 a day after he went into self-isolation. He took to Twitter to announce his diagnosis.
“…My Covid-19 test report has come out to be positive. I am in self-isolation and following all the instruction by doctors and physicians,” Yogi Adityanath said in a tweet on Wednesday.
Yogi Adityanath’s condition is stable and all his vitals are functioning normally.
Yogi Adityanath had gone into isolation on Tuesday as a “precautionary measure” after some officials at his office tested positive for Covid-19. Some officials, including his OSD Abhishek Kaushik, tested positive for the coronavirus infection.
Yogi Adityanath said he will dispense all his chief ministerial duties virtually. After testing Covid-19 positive, he has attended meetings virtually.
Following the news, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma prayed for the quick recovery of Yogi Adityanath.

Yogi Adityanath had recently participated in an event organised by Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Ashutosh Tandon who has also tested positive for the virus.
Earlier in the day, Ashutosh Tandon and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said they have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Ashutosh Tandon tweeted, “After observing initial symptoms of corona, I got myself tested, and the report has come positive. On the advice of doctors, I have isolated myself at home. People who have come in contact with me in the past few days should get themselves tested.”
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav said in a Tweet on Wednesday, “My corona test report has come positive. I have isolated myself and started treatment at home itself. People who have come in contact with me in the past few days should get themselves tested. They are requested to stay in isolation for some days.”
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a Twitter post, hoped for safety and recovery of Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav.
Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported the highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 coronavirus cases and 85 deaths, a senior official said here. With this, the state’s infection tally stands at 7,23,582 and the death toll at 9,309.
