Telangana: Covid-19 breaks for the Saleshwaram fair, a nickname for trekking
The Saleshwaram fair, a nickname for trekking, was interrupted due to corona. The Saleshwaram Jatara Lingamaiah Darshan, which is held five days a year, is so popular among the youth that the place is so suitable for trekking. Due to Covid-19, the forest department has suspended the fair in April as part of precautionary measures.
Nagar Kurnool forest officials have issued orders suspending the fair, which will be held on May 26 and 27 this year. Necessary precautionary measures have been taken as part of curbing the spread of corona in terms of Covid-19 regulations as per government directives.
Mannanur FRO Ellaiah said in a statement that the Saleswaram Jatara was halted this year as part of corona prevention as per the directions of Nagar Kurnool DFO G Kishtareddy. He said the cancellation of the fair was inevitable as the death toll was rising day by day with the spread of corona.
A large number of devotees attend the annual Saleshwaram Jatara held at the Mannanur Forest Station. It is said that these measures were taken keeping in view the health of the Chenchu tribes living in the area. He asked the devotees to understand the corona situation and cooperate with the government to curb the spread of corona.
