Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj won a total of 17 awards in four categories

On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, CM YS Jagan presented awards to Panchayats, Mandals and Districts which have received awards at the national level.

Amravati: National Panchayat Raj Day will be observed on April 24, the day the 73rd Amendment to the Constitution, which gives powers to local bodies, came into force. The Central Panchayat Raj Department is presenting awards at the national level in four categories to the best performing Panchayats, Mandals and Districts in recognition of this occasion. To that extent, the state received 15 awards last year (2020), this time a total of 17 awards.

In addition to the second state level award in the e-Panchayat category, the state has bagged 2 national awards at the district level, 4 at the mandal level and 10 national awards at the panchayat level this year (2021). The cash prize will be Rs 50,000 under the district level award, Rs 25,000 under the mandal level award and Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the population at the panchayat level.

Prime Minister in a video conference:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the awards function across the country via video conference from Delhi. The function was attended by Union Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra singh Tomar, Chief Minister Shri Y.S Jagan and Chief Ministers of various states via video conference.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the awards ceremony in a virtual manner, after which he pressed a button on the computer and deposited cash prizes in the accounts of the award-winning Panchayats, Mandalas and Districts. Similarly, with the push of another button, the Prime Minister also launched the issuance of property cards in 5,000 villages in 7 states.

Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Gram Panchayats were working very well since last year even during the Covid crisis and hoped that the Panchayats would work with the same spirit as now and that the effective response to the Covid epidemic would start in the Gram Panchayats.

Afterwards, CM Shri Y.S.  Jagan presented the National Level Awards announced by the Union Ministry of Rural Development.

Panchayati Raj Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy and Panchayati Raj Rural Development Commissioner M Girijashankar were presented with the second state level award by Andhra Pradesh in the e-Panchayat category, followed by CM Shri Y.S. Jagan, who later presented district, mandal and panchayat awards.

At the district level, the award received by Guntur district (Deendayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Empowerment Award) was presented to Z.P CEO D. Chaitanya and the award received by Krishna district was presented by Z.P CEO PS Suryaprakash Rao by CM Shri YS Jagan.

Afterwards, Deendayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Empowerment Awards (Awards) were presented to Chittoor District Sodem, East Godavari District Kakinada Rural, Krishna District Vijayawada Rural and Anantapur District Penukonda MPDOs at Mandal level.

After that, at the panchayat level, CM Shri YS Jagan presented awards to Varkur, Kurnool district, Pedalabudu, Visakhapatnam district, Gullapalli, Guntur district, Tada Kandriga, Nellore district, Thallapalem, Parthavellanti, Pennabarthi, Renimakulapalli, Chittoor district and G. Rangampeta panchayat, East Godavari district.

Panchayati Raj, Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy, Revenue Chief Secretary V Usharani, Panchayati Raj Rural Development Commissioner M Girijashankar, Land Records Survey Settlement Commissioner Siddartha Jain along with various district officials, mandal level officials and sarpanches were present on the occasion.
