Massive fire broke in Thirumala: Photographer burnt alive
Property damage of over Rs 40 lakh
Thirumala: A huge fire broke out in the shopping complex in the cellar of the court mandapam facing the Srivari temple on Tuesday. The photographer was burned alive in the accident. According to Thirumala One Town Police Station CI Jaganmohan Reddy and Fire Officer M Venkataravireddy, the fire broke out in the shopping complex at 6.30 am. The observed locals informed the fire department and TTD security department. Firefighters rushed to the scene and put out the blaze.
Ten shops were completely burnt down in the accident and another ten shops were partially damaged. A body was found in shop No. 84 which was burnt. The deceased has been identified as Tummala Mallireddy (45), a photographer working in the shop. Mallireddy, who lives in Thiruchanur, slept in the shop at night.
He could not get out of the fire in the background and was burned alive. He is survived by his wife Shobha and a son. The CI said it had initially identified an electrical short circuit as the cause of the fire. He said the accident caused property damage of over Rs 40 lakh. The CI said that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway into the death of the man.
TTD Additional E0 AV Dharmareddy, VGO Balireddy and DSP Prabhakarrao inspected the area where the fire broke out and inquired about the accident. Family members of the deceased were consulted. Tirupati MLA Karunakarreddy, who inspected the accident site in the evening, assured that steps would be taken to help the victims on behalf of the government.
