Green channel designed to send oxygen tankers to Andhra Pradesh without delay
Andhra Pradesh, the second wave of COVID-19 has been widespread and oxygen has been identified as one of the most valuable resources which need to be procured, transported and consumed with utmost care.
Following the demand of oxygen in the state for an uninterrupted transport, a Green Channel has been created to ensure oxygen tankers are sent without delay.
The Andhra Pradesh Government has opened a State War Room (SWR) to ensure seamless management of oxygen supply to all districts and hospitals for treatment of critical COVID-19 patients. The District -level Oxygen War Room has also been established in each of the 13 districts for the purpose.
The Centre has allocated 590 metric tonnes of oxygen supplies to AP. As the current consumption is about 500 metric tonnes, the demand is expected to go up, and accordingly the state requested the Centre to increase the oxygen allocation.
The State Government has been trying all the ways to procure oxygen. The Eastern Naval Command has been roped in to operate and maintain the oxygen supply across the state. All the industrial oxygen cylinders in the state are converted into medical oxygen cylinders.
