Tamil Nadu: On the second day, 30,000 Covid cases were reported
Tamil Nadu has registered more than 30 thousand cases for the second day yesterday. Over one lakh 83 thousand people are under treatment for Covid in the State.
The number of fresh covid cases in Chennai has come down to 6991 followed by Chengalpattu and Coimbatore which is above 2000. Kanyakumari, Madurai and Tiruvallur have registered more than 1000 cases.
A total of 19 thousand 287 people have been discharged following recovery.
The Chennai Corporation will conduct a vaccination drive in the next three days to cover the maximum number of people aged above 45 years. The drive will be conducted at apartments, market areas, companies, at traders associations and wherever possible.
Su.Venkatesan, MP from Madurai has sought the permission of the Health Minister to make use of his MPLADS funds to vaccinate 33 thousand 333 youths of the district.
On a different note, Ramaraj a member of the Tamilnadu Commission for protection of child rights has said that the commission would take care of children whose parents are admitted to hospitals after testing positive for Covid 19 until they return home.
Childline care facility officials are active at districts and children will be properly cared for in a recognised shelter for them he said . Chief Minister Stalin appreciated an auto driver Gururaj hailing from Madurai for giving free ride to people to hospitals for Covid care.
He also appreciated several children who had contributed their savings for the Chief Minister’s Covid relief fund. He has appealed to the Tamil diaspora to contribute to procure medical equipments and provide proper medical care during the pandemic. The Government has vowed to battle the pandemic in a united manner involving people and parties.
