CONCOR extends 50 per cent rebate in rail freight tariff till 31st March next year
Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor), India’s biggest rail hauler of containers has extended the 50 per cent rebate in rail freight tariff for movement of empty dry and reefer containers between gateway ports and the firm’s inland container depots, container rail terminals and private sidings till 31st of March next year.
In a media statement released today, CONCOR said that the EXIM trade is witnessing a positive growth in export volumes as compared to the imports, which has resulted in shortage of availability of sufficient empty containers at the ports.
Considering the increased demands, the PSU initially offered a discount of 50 per cent on the rail freight tariff for movement of empty containers for a period of two months ending on 31st of May.
It added that the initiative has resulted in a growth of 266 per cent in repositioning of empty containers as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
CONCOR has said that the further extension in the rail tariff will facilitate the availability of containers and will boost exports and reduce logistic cost for all stakeholders.
