The omission of the renowned, present State Health Minister K. K Shailaja who had won the elections with a historical majority of over 60,000 votes, has caused widespread criticisms from the public. However, she has been appointed as the Party Whip by the CPI(M) State Committee. The party has selected M. B. Rajesh to be the Speaker.
