Telangana: Govt extends lockdown till May 30
The ministerial meeting scheduled for the 20th of this month has been cancelled: instead of the CM collecting the views of the ministers over the phone
Restrictions as usual: No additional relaxations: Cabinet meeting on 28th or 29th of this month!
Decision on lockdown according to the circumstances then: Sanctions are the same: Chief Minister KCR’s decision
The lockdown being implemented in the state for Covid tightening has been extended to 30 this month. Knowing the views of the state on Tuesday spoke with the chief minister K. Candrasekhar Rao took the decision to extend the lockdown. The state government has directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to issue orders to this effect.
It is learned that the state has imposed a lockdown for 10 days from 12 to 21 this month in the wake of the corona second wave calm. The state cabinet will meet again on May 20 to review the situation and take a decision on the lockdown.
But the chief minister’s office announced on Tuesday that the meeting had been cancelled. The ministers said the decision was taken due to corona control measures in the districts and tireless monitoring of medical services to patients. Instead, the CM KCR spoke to ministers on the phone and said he was in favour of extending the lockdown.
Continuation of current situation
Before imposing the lock down between April 20 and May 12 it is known that the night curfew was enforced daily from 9pm to 5am the next day. The lockdown is being strictly enforced from 10 a.m. on May 12 until 6 a.m. the next day.
The government allowed all kinds of activities for four hours daily from 6 to 10 in the morning, keeping in view the needs of the people. However, in the wake of CM KCR’s announcement last week that he would review the corona situation and lockdown pattern on the 20th, the business community felt that there was a possibility of easing some types of business and commercial activities.
But the Covid situation in the state has not yet been brought under control. It seems that the government has decided not to give any additional relaxation at present and to implement the existing sanctions. There was also no mention of new relaxations in the statement made by the CM’s office on the lockdown extension. The state cabinet is scheduled to meet on May 28 or 29. The decision on lockdown is likely to depend on the corona conditions at the time.
