Mumbai: Police registers FIR against Captain of Barge P305
Mumbai police has registered FIR against Captain of Barge P305 that sank in the Arabian Sea amid Cyclone Tauktae. Mumbai Police said, a case of negligence is registered on the complaint of a P305 engineer in Yellow Gate police station.
Mumbai Police Spokesperson DCP S Chaitanya said, the captain of the barge acted negligently on the warnings issued related to Cyclone Tautkae and that allegedly led to the mishap.
The Spokesperson said, they have so far mentioned the barge’s captain and others in the FIR, and on the basis of the findings of the investigation, they will book more officials.
Meanwhile, ONGC has announced an immediate relief of 2 lakh rupees each to the kin of those who died and are missing in Barge P 305 mishap. It has also extended relief of 1 lakh rupees to the survivors.
Contractor Afcons has said that it would ensure that the families of the deceased would receive total compensation equivalent to a balance period of service up to 10 years of salaries through combination of ex-gratia pay outs and insurance compensation.
Till now Indian navy has recovered 51 bodies, 24 are still missing while total 188 survivors have been rescued. ONGC has said that, more than 30 vessels from Indian Navy, Coast guard, ONGC and Afcons and 15 helicopters of ONGC, Navy and Coast Guard are deployed in rescue operations of the crew that are missing.
