AP: Huge response from students to International Biodiversity Day
International Day of Biodiversity 2021 was conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, Guntur today in virtual mode by organizing a Webinar on Restoration of Biodiversity in Andhra Pradesh- Urgent issues and Actions required.
The Chairman Dr B.M.K. REDDY, presided over and made inaugural speech emphasizing the need for protecting our forest wealth and Biodiversity.
Dr. D. Nalini Mohan IFS., Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Member Secretary of the Board made a Power Point Presentation on important projects and initiatives taken by the Board in the last one year and stated that Biodiversity Conservation is a responsibility of every one of us and we should change the lifestyle and tune with eco-friendly Agriculture, aquaculture, Animal Husbandry and preserve our native and wild gene pool at any cost.
Awareness creation and capacity building of Biodiversity Management committees (BMCs) and other stakeholders is very important, and students should be groomed as “Biodiversity Ambassadors.” He announced “AP State Biodiversity Conserver Awards 2021” to 20 individuals and 9 organizations who did exemplary contribution towards Biodiversity Conservation in the State.
In the webinar speakers have highlighted the urgent issues and Actions required for restoration of Biodiversity in the State. Prizes announced to the winners of competitions conducted for students across the state by the Board in association with APNGC Coordinators online which attracted huge response from the students and teachers.
