Guntur: Minister orders setting up of 25 food processing units in AP
Agriculture Minister Mr. Kursala Kannababu directed the officials to take steps to set up a food processing unit for the parliamentary constituency to process the crop where it is harvested and bring it to market.
In the current budget, Rs 186 crore has been allocated for this. It is suggested that these be set up based on locally available crop products. He was reviewing with agriculture, horticulture and food processing superiors at the APIIC office in Guntur on Friday.
He said the setting up of food processing units would not only provide additional income to food grains but also create employment opportunities for millions.
Crop planning will be implemented soon with the recommendations of the Agricultural Advisory Boards in line with the market. He urged to encourage farmers to focus on alternative, profitable crops.
