Hyderabad: Board of Telangana Biodiversity Successful in Thurpu Poda Cattle breed Conservation: Bags Indian Biodiversity Award-2021
Telangana: Amrabad Tribal Poda Laxmi Gou Sagam and Vulgaro Biosciences bags the India Biodiversity awards 2021
The Telangana Biodiversity Board has been successful in conserving a new breed of Thurup Poda Cattle breed in the state of Telangana. Their cultivation provides farmers with the expected benefits of dairy production as an additional source of income.
Similarly, under Valgro Group Bags Indian Biodiversity Award-2021 is benefiting farmers in various villages by providing multi-organic soil required for the production of bio-fertilizers.
The hard work of Board Secretary Kalicharan S. Karthade behind these successes is commendable. On the occasion, he said that he was happy that the board had received two Indian Biodiversity Awards.
With the support of CM KCR and the encouragement of the Telangana government, the Board Secretary said that they are working for new innovations. State Forest Minister Allola Indra Karam Reddy, who assisted in this, thanked the higher authorities.

Telangana State Biodiversity Board is glad to announce that on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity 22 May 2021 Telangana State has bagged two India Biodiversity awards.
One under category II Conservation of Domestic species, Institution and Individual to Amrabad Poda Laxmi Gou Sagam for conservation of Poda Thurpu the first register cattle of Telangana.
The second award is under category III Replicable Mechanisms for Access and Benefit Sharing to Vulgaro Biosciences for successfully implementation of Access Benefit sharing in Telangana State.
In 2012, the Government of India, in partnership with UNDP India, initiated the India Biodiversity Awards to recognize and honour outstanding models of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use and governance at the grassroots level.
Amrabad Poda Laxmi Gou Sagam Lambadi’s of Amrabad Forest, Telangana are conserving Poda thurpu cattle since 400 years. After the formation of Telangana State the Telangana State Biodiversity in collaboration with WASSAN & TS Animal Husbandry worked together in the registration of the first cattle of the state..PODA THURPU in 2016.
The cattle got registered by Government of India in February 2020. Poda thurpu has been recongnized as the first cattle of breed of Telangana State (44 registered cattle breed of India).

Valagro Biosciences Pvt Ltd, has taken prior approval from NBA to access / use of biological resources occurring in India for both Research and Commercial Purposes, as for the ABS guidelines prescribed as per by the Biodiversity Act, 2002 India.
After receiving the approval from National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Valagro Bioscience has developed five Microbial Products for Sustainable Agriculture which have been launched commercially introduced in India under the PROJECT “VALAGRO FUTURE FARMING”.
The company access the biological resources from the farmer’s field after obtaining necessary approval from the eleven (11) Biodiversity Management Committees (BMC) through NBA with the support of Telangana State Biodiversity Board (TSBDB).
The benefit arising out of the access the biological resources were distributed to these eleven 11 BMCS through Telangana State Biodiversity Board, Hyderabad. Amrabad Poda Laxmi Gou Sagam and Vulgaro Biosciences wins the INDIA BIODIVERSITY AWARD -2021.
