Good news for cricket lovers: IPL will tentatively start in 3rd week of September

The IPL has been postponed to May 4 after multiple COVID-19 cases came to light inside its bio-bubble.

The postponed Indian Premier League is set to resume temporarily in the UAE on September 18 or 19, with 10 double headers expected to play in the three-week window, a senior BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.

The final may take place on October 9 or 10. The three-week window is enough for the league to complete its remaining 31 games this season, a win-win for all primary stakeholders, including the BCCI, franchises and broadcasters.

“Similarly, the final will be on the weekend of October 9 or 10. We are finalizing the journey and there will be two double headers and seven evening matches (two qualifiers, an eliminator and a final) along with 10 major games, which will complete a list of 31 matches,” the official said.
