Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh extend lockdown till June 7
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has said that the total lockdown will continue in the state till 7th of June. In a statement, the Chief Minister said that groceries, fruits and vegetables will continue to be sold in local areas with the coordination of local administration.
Every ration card holder will be given a bag containing 13 grocery items through PDS. He appealed to the people to observe the lockdown regulations along with Covid guidelines to control the pandemic.
The State has recorded more than 31 thousand fresh covid positive cases yesterday. Over 31 thousand 255 patients were discharged after treatment. 486 deaths were registered. More than three lakh 13 thousand patients are under treatment for the pandemic.
Around one lakh 75 thousand samples were tested yesterday. Coimbatore continues to top the list with a little less than 4000 people testing positive for the pandemic. Chennai declined to 2762 positive cases yesterday. Chengalpattu, Erode,
Kanyakumari,Madurai,Tiruppur and Tiruchirapalli have registered more than one thousand positive cases.Chennai recorded the maximum of 107 deaths yesterday.
The Greater Chennai Corporation has appealed to the private scan centres in the city to give the details of those who took CT scans to assess the impact of Covid without RT PCR tests. The State has received around 187 Crore rupees under the Chief Minister’s Covid relief fund. Chief Minister Stalin has released the first part of Rs.50 crore under this fund for covid related activities like procurement of liquid oxygen, oxygen concentrators and Remdesivir medicines.
Himachal pradesh government has decided to extend Corona curfew in the state till 7th of next month with a few relaxations. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in Shimla yesterday. The government has allowed shops to remain open from 9 am to 2 pm, five days a week from 31st of this month.
However, shops selling daily necessities like milk, bread, vegetables, fruits, and medicines will remain open as usual on all seven days. It was aso decided that government offices will also function with 30 percent attendance. Stand alone offices with strength of up to 4 employees will remain open with full strength.
Similarly, the public transport will also remain suspended till further orders. There is a cap of 20 persons in marriages and funerals and no social, political function can be held. All Educational, training and coaching institutes will remain closed till further orders.
Meanwhile, 1,523 fresh cases and 64 covid related deaths were reported across the state during the past 24 hours.
