Karnataka extends ongoing lockdown till June 14th

Karnataka has extended its ongoing lockdown till June 14. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced the extension of lockdown today saying that the pandemic situation is yet to stabilise in the state. He hoped that by one week the situation will be better in terms of daily COVID cases reported in the state.

The restrictions announced earlier related to the lockdown will continue where essential stores will function from morning 6.00 am to 10.00 am and thereafter movement of people will be restricted except for emergencies and vaccination purposes.

The Chief Minister also announced a second relief package of Rs 500 crore for weavers, workers in the film and TV industry and fishermen.

They will get a onetime relief of Rs 3000 cash assistance. He also announced a relief of Rs 5000 for the teacher in the unaided schools.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced a relief package of Rs 1250 crore for auto rickshaw, taxi and maxi cab drivers, construction workers, farmers and others in the unorganised sector.
