The Bihar government has sanctioned Rs. 300 crore for payment of compensation to deaths due to COVID in the state. This decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The government has given approval for the release of this amount from the state contingency fund for meeting the expenditure on the payment of compensation to the next of the kin of those who died due to COVID – 19.
The compensation amount already announced by the government is Rs. four lakh for each death due to covid in the state.
Meanwhile, the state’s recovery rate has risen to over 98 per cent, while the test positivity rate has declined to below one per cent and it is 0.68 per cent.
The number of active cases is also decreasing and presently stands at seven thousand 897. Over seven lakh people have so far recovered from the infection.
In all, 711 fresh cases were reported in the state during the last 24 hours and 1010 people recovered on Tuesday. 1,13,26,000 people have been vaccinated in the state so far.
Out of these, 20.69 lakh people are from the age group of 18 to 44 years.
