Tamil Nadu: CM condemns statement from Karnataka CM on construction of Mekadathu reservoir at Cauvery
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has strongly condemned the statement from Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa on the construction of Mekadathu reservoir at Cauvery. In a statement, Mr Stalin said that such an act was against the interest of lakhs of farmers in Tamil Nadu.
He told that the statement by Karnataka Chief Minister that a dam would be built as soon as the Union Government would permit was totally uncalled for when the issue was at the Supreme Court.
Reiterating that the issue was raised during his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Stalin told that building a dam at Mekadatu would reduce the water supplied to Tamil Nadu. He said that Tamil Nadu Government had already raised objections to the Cauvery Management Authority.
