AP: SSC, Inter examinations cancelled
Appointment of High Power Committee to decide marks
Education Minister A Suresh
AP Education Minister Dr A Suresh said that it was not possible to conduct the SSC and Inter examinations by July 31 as directed by the Supreme Court and therefore the results were being cancelled. Speaking at a media conference in Vijayawada on Thursday, he announced the government’s decision on the exams.
It is not possible to conduct intermediate examinations in the state and release the results in the timeline announced by the Supreme Court on Thursday to formulate the marks evaluation scheme within ten days and announce the results by July 31. All states have a similar time schedule in common. The court also directed the UGC to start the process of higher education admissions after July 31.
At this juncture our students should not miss the opportunity of admissions in educational institutions in other states and national educational institutions. That is why we have decided to cancel the exams as the second option ‘explained the Minister.
He said that in addition to the intermediate examinations, the Tent examinations are also being cancelled. He said a high-level committee would be set up to make suggestions on what procedures to follow for students on other subjects, including determining marks.
He said there was no ambiguity in the government regarding the conduct of examinations. It was clarified that the conduct of examinations was the first priority in view of the future of the students, but the examinations were cancelled as a second option as it was not possible to declare the examinations and results within the time schedule specified by the court.
Allocation of marks as per the instructions of the High Power Committee
‘CBS has given detailed guidelines on how to take marks. How to Assess? Which tests should be considered? Those things are mentioned in it. Under the present circumstances we have only the marks of Intermediate and Practical examinations.
In this context, it was decided to set up a High Power Committee. How should the whole process be assessed? We will decide how to take the marks as per the instructions of the committee. ‘
