Telangana administers 1Cr COVID-19 vaccine doses
Telangana crossed the milestone of administering one crore vaccine doses yesterday. The state so far administered One crore 5 lakh 33 thousand 358 Covid vaccines till last evening across the state.
They include, over 86 lakh first doses and over 14 lakh second doses were administered. The state Health officials dispersed over 2 lakh 5 thousand doses yesterday alone.
The government has been taking steps to administer free vaccines to all eligible people under various categories. Special groups, which have regular contact with people, have been identified like cooking gas suppliers, vendors, media people, shopkeepers.
Bank employees, employees of various public sector organisations have also been given priority and special drives have been held to vaccinate them. Special drive has also been taken up for teachers, as students will be attending direct classes from 1st July onwards.
The ‘Vaccination on Wheels’ drive has also been taken up for street vendors and owners of commercial establishments in markets with the help of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Besides, volunteer groups came forward to inoculate people in various areas with the help of resident welfare associations free of cost.
State Director Public Health Dr Srinivas Rao informed that help came also from the various associations of medical and health practitioners.
State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar congratulated the health officials and staff for vaccinating over one crore people and cut a cake to mark the occasion in Hyderabad last evening.
