Hyderabad CGST Zone celebrates GST Day
The 4th GST Day celebration was held at GST Bhavan, Basheerbagh in presence of GST Officers and other stakeholders who participated virtually. The Chief Commissioner of Hyderabad CGST Zone, Smt. Mallika Arya delivered the keynote address touching upon the facilitation as well as enforcement activities carried out during F.Y. 2020-21 and 1st quarter of 2021-22.
She informed that Hyderabad zone had collected Rs. 17,908 crores during F.Y 2020-21. The success is largely attributable to the stabilization of the GST processes viz., registrations, return filing, etc., thereby widening the tax base. The automation in GST compliances has brought transparency between the taxpayers and the department. The leakages were plugged with enhanced enforcement activities which led to a recovery of 261 crores with a detection of Rs. 720 crores in the F.Y. 2020-21.
As part of trade facilitation, the zone conducted a series of webinars/outreach programs through virtual mode sensitizing the trade on policy & duty structure changes in view of the pandemic and the benefits extended by the Government. In the process, many SMESs, MSMEs have benefited through continuous hand holding by the department.
A booklet for better understanding of E-Way Bill procedures, containing 70 FAQs was released by the Chairman, CBIC on 15.09.2020 for the benefit of small and medium enterprises. To extend support to Taxpayers and exporters, Hyderabad zone sanctioned refunds worth Rs. 2,828 crores during the F.Y. 2020-21.
The department officers rose to the occasion and performed their duty in letter and spirit for the successful implementation of GST. Chief Commissioner, GST Hyderabad Zone awarded ‘Certificates of appreciation’ to 10 meritorious officers of the zone. As a concluding remark, she condoled the loss of all officers/staff who lost their lives to this pandemic and recollected the services rendered by them.
