The Indian cricket team’s six-match limited-overs series against Sri Lanka is likely to be rescheduled owing to a COVID-19 outbreak in the home team camp, with the first ODI now starting on 18 th of July instead of 13th of this month.
Sri Lanka’s batting Coach Grant Flower and Data Analyst G.T. Niroshan have tested positive for the virus on return from the United Kingdom, which has forced Sri Lanka Cricket to extend the hard quarantine period from the stipulated three days.
As per the reports, it has been learnt that new dates are still being chalked out in consultation with the BCCI. The tentative dates could be 18th, 20 th and 23rd of July for the 50-over games, while the three-match T20I rubber is likely to start from 25th of July.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Saturday announced the revised itinerary of India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, 2021. Our medical team is in constant touch with the team of doctors at SLC and together following all safety protocols that will help the series to get underway. We are confident that both nations will put up a spirited show in the days to come and we are in for some exciting cricket.”
