All the proposed urban forest parks should be completed by next March and made available to the public

In line with the directives recently issued by CM KCR on forest restoration, the forest department has decided to work towards the goal of restoring every forest block in the state.

Ms. A. Shanthikumari, Special Principal Secretary, Forest Department, conducted a video conference with the forest officials of all the districts. One hundred percent forest restoration, progress of urban parks, Hyderabad-Adilabad (NH-44) National Highway as well as large-scale road a forestation along with all roads were discussed at the meeting.

Aware of the district-wise progress in the respective areas, the Special Chief Secretary convened a meeting under the chairmanship of the Collector and directed the forest authorities to prepare block-wise plans for forest restoration and to report the progress of the works accordingly.

She said the Chief Minister had directed at a recent cabinet meeting that forest restoration should be given the highest priority in all areas along with other programs and these works should be completed under the supervision of collectors. Special CS suggested that a district level officer be appointed at each place to supervise these works.

A total of 109 urban forest parks have been proposed in the state, of which 36 have been completed and made available to the public, while another 17 are ready for launch, with 56 parks in various stages to be completed by March next year.

The Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), R.S. Shobha revealed, PCCF (Social Forestry) R.M. Dobrial, PCCF (Campa) Lokesh Jaiswal, Additional PCCF M.C. Pargain Chief Conservators, District Forest Officers and staff from all districts are participated.
