Olympics: India women’s hockey team qualifies for quarterfinals after Great Britain beat Ireland 2-0
In Tokyo Olympics, the Indian women’s hockey team on Saturday qualified for the quarterfinal after Great Britain beat Ireland 2-0 in the last Pool ‘A’ group match, securing the 4th spot for India.
Earlier, Indian women’s hockey team defeated South Africa 4-3 in a must-win Pool ‘A’ group match. Vandana Katariya scored a hat-trick while young Neha Goyal (32nd) was the other goal-getter for India.
As a result, the Indian women’s team finished at the fourth spot in Pool ‘A’ and hence progressed to the next round. India will now face Australia in their quarterfinal match.
