After meeting the CM, Minister Avanti Srinivas, Special CS Rajat Bhargav, Information Commissioner Tumma Vijay Kumar Reddy and officials presented a cash prize of Rs 30 lakh to Sindh on behalf of the government.

AMRAVATI: Badminton player Tokyo bronze medalist PV Sindhu has lauded the Andhra Pradesh government for implementing various schemes to promote sportspersons. She had a brief chat with reporters after a courtesy call on state Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the Secretariat on Friday.
She said he had met the Chief Minister politely before heading to the Tokyo Olympics and encouraged him to plan for the Olympics. She said the Chief Minister congratulated her on winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics as they had encouraged her to achieve more projects in the future and bring good name to the state and the country.
She said the state was implementing a 2 per cent reservation in government jobs for sports persons, adding that a policy like this would give a lot of encouragement to sports persons.
She said it was also highly commendable that the state government was presenting the YSR awards to encourage the players. Asked by reporters, she said the sports academy would not be opened any time soon.
Dr. Rajat Bhargav, Special Chief Secretary, Department of Culture and Youth, participated in the meeting.
