Tamil Nadu Assembly adopts a resolution demanding repeal of three Farm laws
The Tamil Nadu Assembly today adopted a resolution demanding the repeal of the three Farm laws. The resolution was adopted by voice vote. AIADMK and BJP opposed the resolution by staging a walk out.
Moving the resolution, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin said that the bills were against the welfare of the farmers. He also blamed the Union Government for ignoring the protest of the farmers who deserve a right to oppose legislations which were against the federal principles.
Speaking on the Resolution Deputy leader of the Opposition O. Panneerselvam said that the State Government should have convened an All-Party Meeting to know the views of other party members before moving the resolution in a hurry. State Agriculture Minister M. R. K. Panneerselvam introduced a bill to repeal the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce and Livestock Contract Farming and Services Act which was enacted during the previous regime.
