AP: Intermediaries should be avoided in purchasing farmer products: NABARD CGM Sudhir Kumar Jannawar
NABARD CGM Sudhir Kumar Jannawar said that intermediaries should be avoided in purchasing farmer ‘s produce so that they can get cheaper prices for the agricultural produce they harvest. He said FPOs should play a key role in this regard. He was the chief guest at the Farmer Producers Associations Awareness Conference organized in Vijayawada today under the auspices of NABARD AP Regional Office.
On the occasion, CGM Sudhir Kumar Jannawar said that awareness was created on the benefits available to farmers through farmer producer associations. NGO and FPO members want to focus on marketing and business.
APCOB MD R.S. Reddy and SLBC Convener Brahmananda Reddy spoke at the conference, explaining the financial assistance and loans provided by banks to FPOs. Similarly all the banks in the state are ready to provide loans. A check for Rs 12.50 lakh sanctioned under financial assistance from NABKISAN to Guntur District Sahajavittu FPO was handed over on the occasion.
The event was attended by e-NAM, NCBEX, APEDA members, FPO representatives and NGO representatives from Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts.
