Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao to launch ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao will be formally launching the ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project at Vikarabad in Telangana today.
The project is a first of its kind in India as it is the first organized drone service in the health care sector for delivering medicines and Covid vaccines. A two-day trial of drones under the project held smoothly.
‘Medicine from the Sky’ is an initiative of the state Government led by the Emerging Technologies Wing of the IT Department in partnership with the World Economic Forum, NITI Aayog and Healthnet Global (Apollo Hospitals).
The project has received the final regulatory approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. There are other selected consortiums that are also partnered in the project.
The Drone flights will take place today onwards for a range up to 10 kilometers and will be accompanied by consignments of vaccines, medical samples and other healthcare items.
The ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project is expected to be very useful especially for remote areas in the state in delivering emergency medicines and vaccines.
