Union Minister Scindia assures full support for expansion and development of Shamshabad Airport

Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia assured full support for the expansion and development of Shamshabad Airport in the wake of increasing passenger traffic to Hyderabad from various countries as Telangana is developing day by day as a hub of economic development in the country.

The Union Minister clarified that necessary steps will be taken to set up another 6 airports requested by the Telangana government. Union Minister Shri Scindia, who is in Telangana to participate in various development programs, had a courtesy call on CM Shri KCR at Pragati Bhavan yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM asked the Union Minister to further improve the airline facilities from Hyderabad International Airport to various countries as Telangana State is developing as an Economic Growth Center and Hyderabad is emerging as an International City.

With Hyderabad and Telangana expanding into business hubs, IT hubs, health hubs and tourism hubs, the CM urged the government to take appropriate steps to increase direct flight connectivity from Hyderabad to Southeast Asia, Europe and the US as travelers are coming from various international cities.

He asked the Union Minister to take immediate steps for the development and operation of 6 airports in the various towns proposed by Telangana and provide appropriate assistance from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. He asked to take steps to provide metro connectivity to Hyderabad Airport.

Responding to this, Union Minister Shri Scindia assured full support to the development of Hyderabad International Airport which is developing day by day in the country. The Union Minister opined that the Hyderabad Airport needs to be further developed in the future.

Warangal (Mamunur) Airport Authority Land (AI), one of the six proposed airports from the state of Telangana, will take steps to start ATR operations soon, the Union Minister said.

Technical clearance will be given for the airport in Nizamabad district (Jakran Palli). He said the setting up of an airport in Adilabad by the Air Force would be overseen by their ministry.

Union Minister Shri Scindia assured the CM that small planes at Peddapalli (Basant Nagar), Kottagudem and Mahabubnagar (Devarakadra) airports would be reconsidered and appropriate steps would be taken.

Ministers Shri KTR, Shri Vemula Prashant Reddy, Shri Mahmood Ali, Chief Government Adviser Shri Rajiv Sharma, CS Shri Somesh Kumar, CM Principal Secretary Shri Narsingh Rao, Union Civil Aviation Secretary Shri Pradeep Karola and others were present on the occasion.
