Singareni Cross in Solar Power Sector is a 200 MW milestone

With the special interest shown by Singareni company C&MD Sri. N. Sridhar, 300 megawatts solar plants being erected throughout Singareni, 172 megawatts plants have already been completed and generating solar power, the 37 megawatts solar plant at Kothagudem has been inaugurated on Wednesday and with this Singareni has crossed the 200 megawatts milestone.
This plant was inaugurated by Company Directors Sri. N. Balaram (Finance, P&P, Personnel) and Sri. D.Satyanarayana Rao (E&M). Company Chariman & MD Sri. N. Sridhar conveyed his congratulations and instructed the concerned departments that the third phase erections should be completed by this year end.
Speaking on the occasion the Directors said that Singareni is erecting these solar plants as part of environment protection measure and with this initiative almost 120 crore rupees are being saved.
Singareni decided to erect 13 plants totaling 300 megawatts in 8 areas of Singareni. Erection of these plants is to be completed in 3 phases. In the first phase BHEL was handed over contract to complete power plants in four areas for 129 megawatts power generation. Out of this 40MW in RG-3, 30MW in Manuguru, 39MW in yellandu and 10MW plant in STPP area and these have been completed and generation has started. The balance 10 megawatt plant erection in this phase at RG-3 will be completed in another month.
Adani construction Company was given contract to complete plants 4 plants in 3 areas with a capacity of 90 MW. In this 37MW at Kothagudem, 28 MW at Mandamarri-A block, 15 MW at Mandamarri-B block and 10 MW at Bhupalapalli has been completed and with this Singareni has reached solar power generation of 209 MW.
Singareni collieries is the first coal company to enter into solar power sector along with thermal power. Singareni C&MD Sri. N. Sridhar showed special interest on solar power, conducted monthly review meetings and ensured that the erection is completed on time.
122.3 million units of solar power generated till now
Already 122.3 million units of solar power (upto September 21st) has been generated and has been connected to the grid. This power is connected to the power transmission company TRANSCO and is using the power in different areas of Singareni. Thus, reducing the purchase of power from State power supply. With this the company has saved Rs.75 crores until now. When the 300 MW power generation is completed Singareni would be saving Rs. 120 crores per year.
81 MW in the third phase to be completed by the end of this year
81 megawatts plants erection in the third phase has been handed over to Adani and Novas group. Novas group has already started erection of 15 MW floating power plant on the reservoir in the Singareni thermal power plant premises. Adani group has taken up erection of 22 megawatts plant on RG-3 open cast dump, 10 megawatts on Dorli open cast dump and 34 megawatts at Kothagudem, Chennuru.
It has been decided that these have to be completed by the end of the year. On the instructions of the Chairman & MD, Director (E&M) Sri. D.Satyanarayana Rao is taking special interest. Recently he met the solar energy corporation Director and other higher officials at Delhi and discussed on the speedy erection.
