Odisha government is fully geared up to tackle the likely impact of the cyclonic storm Gulab. According to Met office, cyclonic storm is likely to cross south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast by this evening.
In view of the upcoming cyclone storm, Odisha Government has alerted the local administration of seven southern districts to take all pre-emptive and precautionary measures to face the cyclonic impact.
These districts include Koraput, Navrangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati , Kondhmal and Malkangiri. About 24 NDRF, 42 ODRAF and more than 100 fire service teams have been positioned in these districts for relief and rescue operations.
In view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in south Odisha and coastal districts of the state, the collectors of the concerned districts like Gajapati and Rayagada have been asked to evacuate people from places likely to face landslides.
Measures are also being taken to avert the impact of likely flash floods in south Odisha rivers like Rushikulya, Vansadhara and Nagavali. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the seas till tomorrow.
Several parts of the state including capital Bhubaneswar have started experiencing rainfall of varying degrees as a foretaste of the impending cyclone.
