MP: Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Dr. L. Murugan was today elected unopposed to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh. The opposition Congress did not field its candidate in the Rajya Sabha election.
Returning Officer Avadhesh Pratap Singh informed that till the last day of nomination, only Dr. Murugan’s nomination was submitted and found valid. Dr Murugan was declared elected unopposed after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations expired at 3 pm today.
After the election, Dr. Murugan while expressing his gratitude to the party leaders and the people of Madhya Pradesh said that he would try to make every possible contribution in the development of the state.
Earlier, Dr. Murugan visited the Bull Mother Farm Artificial Insemination Center in Bhopal and took stock of the activities of this center and various laboratories. Bull Mother Farms Artificial Insemination Center is the second highly advanced semen laboratory in India.
Dr. Murugan also inspected activities of the Animal Husbandry Department. He also interacted with the trainees of Maitri Project under Rashtriya Gokul Mission and advised them to become self-reliant by taking advantage of various welfare schemes of the government.
Dr. Murugan is on a day-long visit to MP. He was welcomed today at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal by officials of various media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Dr. Murugan will meet the officials of PIB’s regional office in the evening.
