“I am very concerned about the Red Alert across Telangana and the heavy rains in Hyderabad,” Dr Tamilsai Soundarajan State Governor of Telangana said on Twitter. The Governor reviewed the situation over the phone to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar.
Governor asked to take action on a war footing and support the affected families. She asked for supportive measures as well as updating the situation from time to time. She also called on the volunteers of the Indian Red Cross and NGOs to assist the government in similar relief activities.
Telangana, a few places received very heavy rain since morning under the influence of Cyclone Gulab, which less intensified depression.
Tirumalayapalem in Khammam district received over 15 cms while Wyra in the same districts received 14.1 cms of rainfall since morning.
Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad recording six to eight cm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, met officials informed that several districts in Telangana are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains, while few districts might receive extremely heavy rains.
About 15 districts have been put on alert in the state, where the districts authorities have made arrangements to handle any emergency situation.
