Nitin Gadkari announces new road project connecting Surat and Chennai
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced a new ambitious road project connecting Surat in Gujarat and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
The new green field road will cover Surat-Nashik-Ahmadnagar-Solapur-Chennai with the cost of 50 thousand crore rupees. He was speaking after inaugurating a Highway Project in Ahmadnagar district of Maharashtra today.
Mr Gadkari said that, traffic congestion will be removed due to this road network and a total of 1,150 hectares of land will be acquired for this project.
He also said that, if Maharashtra Government allots nearby land, many new roadside facilities could be developed there. Mr Gadkari insisted for use of Ethanol instead of petrol in vehicles.
He said that Ethanol is a good option for Petrol and if people pledge to use Ethanol, the country’s petrol imports will be reduced to a great extent.
He said that Ethanol/Petrol Pumps will be started in the country and the government will permit to run the vehicles on 100 per cent Ethanol. He also insisted that sugar factories should produce Ethanol.
