Telangana assembly unanimously adopts resolution seeking caste census of Backward Classes
Telangana State Assembly today unanimously adopted a resolution seeking the Centre to take a caste-wise census of Backward Classes community in the country.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao moved the resolution stating that Telangana has over 50 per cent Backward Classes people and accurate statistics of their census will help the government in planning welfare programmes.
He also recalled that all parties favoured cast-based census during discussions on various subjects in the Assembly.
The Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution urging the Central Government to take up caste-based census along with the General Censes-2021.
